Frequently asked questions
Safe. Effective. Expert Tattoo Removal.
At Warrnambool Tattoo Removal, we use the advanced Revlite Q-Switch laser, the only machine continuously recommended and used by the industry’s best and most successful tattoo removal clinics. Guaranteed for safe, results-driven tattoo removal. Here’s everything you need to know.
How does laser tattoo removal work?
Laser tattoo removal breaks down the tattoo ink using pulses of light energy. The Revlite Q-Switch laser targets the pigment in your skin, shattering the ink into tiny particles, which are then cleared by your body’s lymphatic system over time.
What type of laser do you use?
We use the Revlite Q-Switch laser, a premium medical-grade device that’s known for its precision, safety, and effectiveness on a wide range of ink colours and skin types.
Is tattoo removal painful?
Most people say it feels like a rubber band snapping against the skin. Discomfort is usually brief and well-tolerated, and numbing cream is available to make your treatment as comfortable as possible.
How many sessions will I need?
Every tattoo is different. Most tattoos need 5–10 sessions, spaced several weeks apart. During your consultation, we’ll assess your tattoo and provide a customised treatment plan.
Will my tattoo be completely removed?
Many tattoos can be fully removed, especially black ink. Some colours, like blue or green, can take longer to fade. We’ll always give you honest advice on your expected outcome based on your tattoo.
Is laser tattoo removal safe?
Yes — when performed by trained professionals. We use TGA-approved laser technology in a clinical setting and follow strict safety protocols for every treatment.
What will my skin look like after a session?
You may notice redness, swelling, or a white “frosting” effect immediately after treatment. This is normal and typically settles within a few days. We’ll give you full aftercare instructions to help your skin heal.
Can all colours be removed?
Black ink responds best to laser treatment. The Revlite laser also treats red, orange, and some green tones effectively. Lighter inks like yellow or white can be more stubborn and may only fade partially.
How much does laser tattoo removal cost?
Under Australian law, we can’t provide quotes online or over messages. Pricing will be discussed in detail during your in-person consultation, where we assess your tattoo and create a tailored plan.
Can I start treatment at my first visit?
In most cases, yes. Once we’ve completed your consultation and checked for any contraindications, you can begin your first treatment the same day if you're ready.
I’ve just had a new tattoo and regret it instantly. How soon can I have it removed?
We understand tattoo regret can happen quickly — you're not alone! However, it's important to give your skin time to fully heal before starting laser treatment. We recommend waiting at least 12 weeks after getting a new tattoo before beginning removal. This allows the skin to recover and reduces the risk of complications like scarring or pigment changes.
Once your tattoo has healed, we can assess it in person and create a safe, personalised treatment plan to start your removal journey.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects are typically mild and temporary, such as redness, swelling, or slight blistering. Some clients may notice temporary pigment changes (lighter or darker skin). We prioritise your skin’s health and minimise risk at every stage.
Do you offer fading for cover-up tattoos?
Yes! We offer targeted fading for clients preparing for a cover-up tattoo. Lightening the old tattoo gives your artist more flexibility and improves the outcome of your new design.
